Ever used a formula and wanted to keep only the results (or answers) and delete some or all of the data that the formula use to do the calculations with?

As soon as you delete any data that the formula refers to it will result in an Error message.

With a simple drag and drop you can convert Formulas into Values, allowing you to delete whatever you don’t want in your spreadsheet without it affecting your results!

1st Method

  • Highlight the ‘results’ column containing the formula you would like to convert.
  • Right click and choose Copy
  • Then do a Paste Special… Paste Values by either using the Ribbon or by right clicking again.

2nd Method

  • Select the ‘results’ data containing the formula you would like to convert.
  • Drag it into another column, maybe the column you want to delete.
  • When you let go of the mouse button, it reveals its traditional use, with a pop-up or shortcut menu appearing.
  • Select Copy Here as Values Only.

3rd Method

  • Select the ‘results’ data containing the formula you would like to convert.
  • Drag it right or left and back on top of itself, let go of the mouse button.
  • Select Copy Here as Values Only.

This is the best way since you actually copy the ‘results’ data onto itself.

This is a great shortcut and can save you a lot of time whenever you need to convert formulas into the results.
